Utah Botanical Center
The Utah Botanical Center demonstrates and practices sustainable principles which can significantly reduce impacts on the land and other valuable resources. Sargent Engineers was excited to partner with the UBC to provide engineering services for a sustainable project including: home landscaping, wetland restoration, habitat creation, and water quality enhancement.
This project is certified by USGBC with a LEED Platinum rating and includes ground source heat pumps, photo-voltaic solar panels, and an innovative waste water treatment system.
Sargent provided design and construction management for the site layout and grading, utility services, and access road to the Wetland Discovery Point classroom and learning center. Designed a stream crossing with high aesthetic standards and a one mile long by eight foot wide pedestrian path extending the full length of the property. Coordinated landscaping for 9 acres of native landscaping adjacent to I-15, which incorporated pedestrian access and included a sound mitigation safety berm along the interstate to mitigate concerns with interstate traffic.
